At Allegiance our commitment is to a quality, inclusive education for all students. Our staff has vast knowledge accumulated through their experience as parents, educators, school administrators, psychologists and researchers. We endeavour to work with all stakeholders to support the learning and development needs of children and adolescents. The first step toward achieving this is the appropriate assessment of the needs of the individual.
Individual assessments are conducted on-site at our office in Leeming or by arrangement, at a location where the client’s ability to self-regulate is maximised. Medicare rebates are available for some assessments, with the appropriate referrals. Appointments can be made directly through the website where you will find a wide variety of flexible options designed around the purpose of the assessment and the desired outcome. We are committed to ongoing research and research informed practice. As such we ask and encourage our clients to make their de-identified data available for research purposes. Dr Slater is an active education researcher with multiple publications, which clearly demonstrate her commitment to inclusive education. Our data informed approach allows us to monitor the ongoing well-being of our clients over time, so that we may critically review and reflect upon the effectiveness of interventions.
Dr. Eileen Slater (Ph.D.) is well known for her research and support for families and schools in the area of gifted education. When Eileen and Patrick's eldest child spontaneously began reading at 3.5 years old, so began a long journey of understanding and advocacy. Two more children followed, and as we know, giftedness tends to run in families. Her younger children are both twice exceptional.
Previously a science teacher, school administrator, and curriculum consultant, Eileen turned her attention to research in the hope that she may be able to make the pathway easier for the children and families that followed. Eileen has been assessing gifted children for the past 8 years and successfully advocating in schools for appropriate educational accommodations to meet their needs. Still an active researcher, Eileen's research focuses on inclusive education practice. Her publications can be found at the following link.
